Biography
Gerardo Duarte is a Senior Associate in Health and Benefits for Willis Towers Watson in Dallas, TX. He has 6 years of actuarial consulting experience with all aspects of health and benefits programs with Willis Towers Watson. At his role in WTW, he leads strategic quantitative and risk conversations with employer clients. He delivers quantitative reporting and projections infused with strategic insights including recommendations on funding, plan design, reserving, and innovative financial solutions.
Originally from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, he moved to the U.S to start his undergrad studies at a local community college (Laredo College) in Laredo, TX. He later transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and in 2018, he graduated with honors with a B.S. in Mathematics (concentration in Actuarial Science). He was an active member and held leadership positions at MAES (Latinos in Science and Engineering). Later in 2023, Gerardo became an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
Gerardo joined OLA back in 2020 supporting interviews and resume reviews. He is passionate about promoting the actuarial profession, and supporting Latine students and young professionals achieve their goal of becoming an actuary.
Gerardo enjoys all kind of outdoor activities, camping, hiking, kayaking, etc and spending time with his family. He hopes to become a university professor in the future. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
